Keane has been in Australia on holiday for the past month and is back in Sydney, where he is waiting to hear more from Victory about whether he could be the right fit as their manager.

After beginning his managerial career at Sunderland, Keane moved to English Championship side Ipswich, where he was in charge for 18 months before being sacked in January. The former Republic of Ireland captain was thought to be only vaguely interested when he first held talks with Melbourne more than a month ago, but now his interest has grown and he is discussing with his family the prospect of moving to Australia permanently.
